Domo 39

The team behind Mapo Gelato, Kurumac, Cool Mac, and Poketto have teamed up to open Domo 39, a grab and go takeaway style onigiri and soft-serve shop right by St Peter’s train station and opposite Sydney Park.

The cafe has plenty of tables to dine in but it’s also like a Japanese convenience store where you can get ready made food out of the open fridge which has plenty of onigiri (Triangle shaped rice balls) and bento boxes. We tried the tuna, a well as the pork and egg and they’re definitely tasty. We also ordered some freshly made onigiri. Obviously these are better but takeaway is a good option if you’re in the run. For the Bento boxes; there’s Wagyu beef and egg; pork katsu; grilled salmon; or chicken nanban, a sweet-sour fried chicken with tartare and pickles.

The cafe also offers two soft-serve flavours, us trying the vanilla on the day. Lennox demolished the strawberry one.

Sample is brewed for your coffee, and they’ve also got matcha lattes, iced yuzu black coffees and a matcha mocha.

The staff are friendly, food comes fast and we like that there’s longer opening hours so too.
