We were in Sydney’s CBD to visit Penelope’s in Circular Quay in the Quay quarter, which is absolutely stunning venue overlooking the harbour.
Some al fresco tables on the large balcony and also an interior with beautiful coloured tones and textures. The neon lighting also made the place feel modern and vibrant!
We were visiting for their “Dine and Dash menu” – designed to give those in a time crunch a quality meal and great value at $55 per person.
It included a main meal accompanied by their house made flat bread with dips and crispy chick peas, including toum and hommous, a great way to whet the appetite, the dips full of flavor.
The $55 menu also came with a decent sized side salad of leaves in a tasty yuzu dressing and a good serving of crispy chippies with kombu salt. For the mains we went with the black Angus Steak ordered and cooked medium rare.
The steak was nice and tender, and the sauce was excellent, taking the steak to another level. We also ordered the Quandamooka Morton Bay Bug Linguine, this was delicious, the Morton Bay Bug meat was perfect, sweet and tender, the sauce was phenomenal, coating the linguine in rich shell fish flavours and aroma of the sea. We also ordered the Blood orange with burrata as an additional to the set menu. It is blood orange season and we look forward to it each year.
This was dish a perfect summer dish, the subtle creamy flavours of the burrata combined nicely with the sweet citrus of the blood orange. We finished the meal with the PBJ Ice cream sandwich, the Peanut Butter parfait was rich and silky, the Davidson Plum jam providing a nice contrast. A nice dessert, not too heavy.
We really enjoyed or dining experience at Penelope’s the restaurant setting and location is great. The setting is perfect for a date, and sophisticated for Business catch up, or a nice spot to meet with friends or for a special occasion. The service matched the setting, professional, friendly and attentive.
There is a good drinks menu and outdoor seating, perfect for taking in the views. We will keep this restaurant high on our list of places to visit on Sydney Harbour.
