Kurt and I took his mother to High Tea for her birthday. The High Tea at the brand-new Champagne Jacquart Bar on Level 2 of David Jones, Elizabeth Street is a superb location, for it is a well away from the hustle and bustle of all the city shoppers, and tucked away on the women’s retail clothes level, offering shoppers a space to relax.
Find the cafe with the wall of Champagne Jacquart and you know you’re at the right place. Take a seat at the benches or right near the window overlooking Sydney’s Hyde Park.
While there, you can enjoy a luxurious array of treats and indulge in exquisite offerings as part of their signature Champagne Jacquart High Tea which has been expertly curated by Head Chef Alessandro Morabito (ex Pepi’s and Bel & Brio).
The high tea comes with a selection of signature petit fours and, barista coffee or leaf tea and Champagne Jacquart ‘Mosaique NV Brut or Rose’. We tried each type of Champagne and both were lovely.
For the food offerings, it’s primarily sweet based with a lemon meringue tart, and chocolate ganache tart. There’s shortcrust pastry, Victoria vanilla sponge cake, apricot preserve, chantilly cream, coconut and mango pannacotta and scones of course (well actually only one – they should provide 2 as it’s hard to share)
Only minimal savoury – a blink, few little brioche sandwiches with salmon mousse, chicken and mayo or a truffle mousse with porcini dust. There’s also a lovely one with poached slipper lobster meat, Marie Rose sauce, chives, caviar on a saffron brioche bun.
$40,per person (with tea or coffee), $50 with a glass of Champagne Jacquart ‘Mosaique NV Brut’ 50,00 per person or $55 for coffee or tea and Champagne Jacquart ‘Mosaique NV Brut’. We think this is such great value for what is included.
Our hostess was delightful and so helpful, we really appreciate it. What a wonderful experience.
