The Branksome Hotel and residences is a modern hotel, having been opened only a year, servicing plenty of travellers and corporate guests. It’s a great location as if you’re checking in from a flight, it’s only 1km from the airport. Probably not walking distance, but certainly a cheap cab fare.
If you’re looking for somewhere with plenty of facilities, then you’ve found your place to stay. They have 146 serviced apartments from studio – 3 bedrooms. This makes it ideal for families as well, since there are larger room options and amenities for children. You can find floor plans and images of the rooms on the hotel website.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a lounge and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, with a coffee machine and an interior laundry. They also provide you with complimentary water.
It has a contemporary feel, with a range of technologies such as a digital concierge, and block out motorised blinds. If you’re working, there’s a study (and plenty of sockets for charging devices). You’ll receive complimentary wi Fi during your stay.
They also have an environmental conscience, encouraging you to re hang towels if you don’t need a new supply, rainwater is used for flushing toilets and there’s also a $10 fee if you don’t return your room key – a very good idea to save plastic!
There’s a 25 m indoor heated lap pool and small kiddies wading area. It’s a great pool, super clean and we also loved the Indigenous art on the interior walls. It wasn’t hot weather during our stay, but if it were, you’ll find plenty of deck chairs to sunbathe.
Once you’ve had a swim, hop in the steam sauna to sweat it out and have a good detox. We certainly spent our time in here.
For the fitness enthusiasts among us, there is a fully equipped gym with a huge amount of modern equipment. There’s treadmills, a stepper, exercise bikes, hand weights and incline benches as well as plenty of other weight machines to get an overall workout. There’s TVs to watch during your workout and a water filter to re hydrate. It was a super quiet gym, even when the hotel was at 90% capacity so you might even have it to yourself.
If you’ve got kids, there’s plenty for them – an indoor wading pool, kids meals at the restaurant and even an outdoor park on site.
This hotel is ideal for Corporates as there’s a few meeting spaces and a boardroom fit for 14 people. The larger areas can accommodate 120 people and there’s an outdoor space for breaks. The rooms have AV capabilities, screen projectors and white boards.
They have a restaurant and bar onsite, “Nate’s: east meets west dining” where you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant, alfresco or order room service if you’d prefer to stay in.
We had both the buffet breakfast and dinner here. The buffet offered cold and hot options; from fruit, cereal and cold deli items to western hot breakfast options such as scrambled eggs and sausages. There’s tea, coffee and juices to accompany your meal.
For dinner, we tried the new menu. The name of the restaurant is apt, since there are both eastern and western options. Whilst there aren’t endless dishes to select from, the food is quality and nicely presented. We shared three dishes including a Riverina Sirloin steak, Cooked to order and nicely seasoned. It came with a lovely jus and presented with julienne carrots and toast and sweet potatoes. This was a decent portion.
The quail was also a great choice, the tender meat was also flavoured superbly and served with similar sides to the steak.
Miso cod is also a favourite and the one here is particularly good, served with Hainanese rice and edamame beans. We really enjoyed this fish and it’s delicious glaze.
They have a good range of drinks on offer st the bar, including craft beer on tap, an extensive wine list and cocktails. The drinks are well priced and there’s also an early weekend happy hour.
They also have a lovely rooftop bar, perfect for an afternoon drink and you can also order food up there. Catch a glimpse of the amazing sunset.
Only a short walk from Botany Road Mascot, where you can get a bus to the CBD. Or only 1 km from Mascot train station.
For those driving, there’s plenty of underground on site parking.
The staff are so kind and helpful and really do everything well and beyond to make your stay wonderful.
