The bubble tea fad has shown no signs of fading, if anything, it is getting rapidly larger! Originating in Taichung, Taiwan in the 1980’s, it has become hugely popular for its wide range of flavours and ‘pearls’ or ‘bubbles’ in the drink.
Ever since our recent trip to Taiwan, we have been obsessed with Bubble Tea, and milk tea is our absolute favourite. To our delight, one of the largest bubble tea chains from Taiwan has opened in Melbourne on Elizabeth Street.
Milksha, known as Milksha have come to us from Taiwan via 3rd generation dairy farmer, Kevin Lin. The difference between Milksha and other bubble tea brands is that Milksha use fresh milk rather than non-dairy creamer to produce a fresh bubble tea that we can all enjoy with a fresh and smooth taste.
Some of their other drinks use freshly squeezed juice, cane sugar and ingredients without artificial colouring or preservatives. This means the tapioca pearls or ‘bubbles’ are clearer in colour because they’re only sweetened with honey.
Some of their flavours include:
- Fresh Milk Series
- Fresh Milk Tea Latte Series
- Premium Tea Series
- Specialty (juices and teas)
- Yoghurt drinks
There’s fresh taro milk, cocoa milk, matcha, earl grey latte, orange green tea, brown sugar milk (our favourite), black sesame milk and more.
This popular brand has become associated with being a premium bubble tea.
Since its opening in 2014, it has grown to have 240 stores in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau and the newly opened store in Melbourne, which was selected for its belief as being the foodie capital in Australia.
We also love that they use 100% biodegradable bamboo straws (from Taiwan) which aims to reduce the environmental impact.
Be sure to get on down and check our Australia’s first store.
