We’d had this place on our must visit list for a while, but given we live in the East, it’s more of a destination visit for us. We had a spare weekend and headed over to Manly to try out a few places. Showbox was on our coffee hit list.
The cafe could be described as vintage eclectic with its retro tables and signs, mixed with exposed brick and industrial pipes as the decor. It was more urban than beachy and reminded me of some of the Surry Hills cafes.
Their coffee sees a mix of rotating brands from Mecca, Artificer, Reuben Hills and More. They also do a pretty cool espresso tonic, as well as smoothies, chai and teas. The coffee here is good.
On this day we were just there for coffee, but we’re keen to revisit as the menu is super interesting and intriguing with “peaches and cream – with ricotta, honeycomb, freeze dried strawberries on sourdough” making my bucket list to return for. Homemade bagels, sambos, toasties and salads, it’s no run of the mill menu, but intriguing. This will certainly see us return.
