We love the south coast and have recently explored plenty of wonderful stores, restaurants, cafes, local producers and wineries during our last trip. There’s endless opportunities to enjoy good food and drinks.
What a better way to do all this in one weekend in the one place. Head down to Berry for the inaugural South Coast Food & Wine Festival. Held in the Berry Showgrounds, the festival will run from Friday 13 September to Sunday 15th September, showcasing what the south coast region has to offer.
It will have numerous events such as cooking classes, demos and tastings from a number of local chefs and producers. There will be a number of pop up stalls and it will also have live music and entertainment to make it a fun atmosphere.
The festival program is now out, so be sure to check it out online here
Friday 13th is the trade and industry showcase: meet the producer, farmer, committee meeting and a networking event.
Sat 14th and Sunday 15th is the highlight of the event program for visitors. On Saturday 14th September, the festival village opens at 11am where you can undertake beverage tasting and food sampling. The VIP lounge opens at 12 noon. General admin opens at 10 am Sunday.
The event will showcase a range of cooking demonstrations on the ‘Nowra Farmers Market Stage’ in the Festival Village where a variety of exhibitors, both local and celebrity chefs, local producers and farmers will be on show.
We also recommend signing up for a master class online here There is the “Australian oyster coast and Cupitt’s winery class ‘Estuary Oyster Masterclass + Oyster Stout & Prosecco’. Or Olson’s salt masterclass.
Classes provided the opportunity for to meet and learn from the chef and producers. At approximately $33 each, they’re great value to learn the tricks of the trade. Whether it be burrata stretching, cheese tasting or salting and sake – be sure to sign up before they sell out.
The South Coast Food and Wine Festival is not to be missed and we recommend getting your tickets early, so you don’t miss out. Tickets to the Festival cost $28pp and are on sale now at www.southcoastfoodandwinefestival.com.au
Getting there
If you’re planning on driving from the Sydney CBD, it will take about 2.5 hours, 1 hour from Wollongong and 2.5 hours from Canberra. Just be sure to give yourselves enough time to allow for traffic and rest breaks.
We recommend organising accommodation ahead of time as Berry is only a small town. You can stay in local areas like Gerringong, Kiama, Gerroa to name a few. Check out our post on Bangalay Luxury Villas here.
The festival organisers have also arranged some shuttles from the local areas. See their website for bus schedules to the event.
