Noi @ Petersham

Located in Petersham, Noi is a fabulous little restaurant with Italian food prepared in innovative ways, for each dish feels like you’re in a high scale fine dining restaurant.

The setting of the restaurant is urban cool, with dim lighting, trendy art, beautiful floorboards and exposed brick walls and navy upholstery.

The food focuses on the use of fresh seasonal produce, proteins and seafoods and it has been developed into an inventive menu. The menu is a la carte and it consists of entrees, pasta, mains, sides and desserts. You can select a 2 course option or 3 course from the entrees, pasta and mains list. You can then add on a dessert if you so please.

We were in a small group so we tried a range of dishes but from the entree list, the kangaroo tartare was a standout, in fact one of the best dishes we’ve had all year. Mixed with carrots and a light eucalyptus flavour that saw the dish come together with incredible flavour. It is also gf/df/nf.

We loved both the pastas, their ‘gnocchi alla romana’ topped with a capsicum, parmesan sauce (nf/v). These gnocchi were light and fluffy and incredibly tasty. We also enjoyed their tagliolino, asparagus with amaebi prawns.

From the mains, their pink snapper was the standout dish, with small bits of cauliflower, and lemon myrtle flavour. The only thing was this is a bit on the small side (as is true for all mains, so I’d recommend three courses).

The burnt butter sauce on the bbq flathead is one to bottle up as it was outstanding. We also loved their veal, white onion, salsa verde (df/gf/nf) and appreciate the breads provided for the table.

After our mains we chose three desserts to share; their “terramisu” – a Marscapone with chocolate soil and a few biscuits. Could have been a bit sweeter and we missed the soaked ladyfinger biscuits in this one. We liked the “would you berry me”, a berry tart with meringue and a delicious blueberry sorbet.

The venue also has a great alcohol list including cocktails and wines, which the sommelier can assist with.

Staff were also very welcoming, knowledgeable and professional, making for an excellent all round experience.
