This Doy Tao is very different to the Newtown outlet. Whereas Newtown is a table service restaurant, this is labelled as “express”. And that it is, for you order at the counter inside and your food comes out almost as quick as you order it. There’s a few tables outside, but no other diners when we visited, but plenty of takeaway and delivery drivers.
The food menu is extensive, with an array our your Thai favourites; their signature dishes, seafood, proteins, smaller entrees, curries, stir fries, salads and sides. Using fine ingredients to produce meals with colour, texture, fragrant smell and great taste, the food is high quality. However, the first half of their menu to be quite expensive but fairly standard prices for the stir fries and curries.
For an entree, the bbq octopus was nicely grilled and marinated in Thai herbs with a sweet chilli sauce.
We ordered the seafood thai salad, a refreshing dish of grilled seafood; squid, king prawns, scallops and fish fillets. In a lovely sweet sauce on a bed of lettuce, we thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Their pad thai is one of the better ones we’ve had. The popular thai rice noodle dish was made with its usual egg, roasted peanuts and sprouts and we chose to have it with tofu, veg and an extra chicken add on.
A causal fuss free meal that tastes good. What more does one need.
