Ruby Lonesome

Ruby Lonesome is a spot I’d been keen to check out for a while. Located in Sydney’s inner west in Marrickville, it is a Vegetarian Cafe and plenty of things are also plant based / vegan.

With quality food, good coffee and efficient service, we had a good experience.

We ordered brewed tea, single O latte on oat (they don’t serve skim here) as well as a slice of their House-Made Chocolate & Walnut Loaf, served with Cultured Vegan Butter. The loaf was light and delicious and a quality treat.

In addition we got their sweet spiced butternut pumpkin oats, topped with blackberry, raspberry and rhubarb compote, as well as toasted seeds and nuts. The pumpkin gave it an interesting flavour and texture, quite different to your usual winter porridge.

The cafe has a great range of interesting brekkie choices and also lunch meals such as the “Phish-o-fillet” or Buddha bowl. The front counter also showcases some amazing home baked cakes.

Inside the cafe, it’s also somewhat of a general store, with home made jams and preserves, cookie dough, Maple chai muesli, Sauces, Tote bags, tea towels, Coffee beans, Honey and Kombucha.

A comfortable and casual cafe with a great all round menu.
