Great Scott cafe

Great Scott is a new cafe in Rosebery/Mascot/Alexandria on the strip of shops opposite Gardners Road Public School. The location is central but almost impossible to get a car spot, so the cafe has to rely on foot traffic.

The cafe however, is excellent. The food and coffee is on point. We love it when a menu offers more than your standard big brekkie or eggs Benedict, so when we read this menu, we were excited. We tried their curried eggs with rotu, pickles and kasundi. The chef is super experienced and really knows his stuff. The flavours worked well together and was a super decent portion for $16. We find cafes today are charging way higher for things hardly up to scratch and here’s a cafe doing everything right. I feel the prices should stay that way to get people in the door. Other menu items include “Grandmas Country plate (like a Ploughman’s plate), Challah French Toast, or a mushroom ragout and three cheese toastie.

They’ve also got some pre made options ready to go, as well as home made cakes and sweets.

The coffee here is good, using @thelittlemarionette for the bean, which we love and it was made well.

Service was friendly and food prepared fast, yet with care and attention to detail.

It is unfortunate the cafe only opens weekdays. We would rarely be able to visit and nor would most of my friends (despite wanting to). So we feel that they really need to open weekends, even if it’s a Saturday only, to get the name and food out there. It really is very good and we want to see them succeed.
