Diggies is a beachfront cafe in North Wollongong with a cool and casual vibe. It’s been around since 2003 and have another cafe in Kiama.

The menu has a range of the good old favourite brunch and lunch items (both menus available all day) as well as dinner, made using good quality local ingredients. Some menu examples include an açai bowl, granola, buttermilk pancakes and bacon and egg rolls. Lunch has pasta, steak sandwiches and burgers to name a few.

We ordered the green nourish bowl from the breakfast menu, which is both gf and vg. Whilst the menu listed quinoa, roast zucchini, asparagus, crispy zucchini flowers, kale, edamame, green goodness dressing, ours didn’t have the crispy zucchini flowers, kale or edamame. It was just quinoa, asparagus and beans. We added a poached egg. A nice healthy meal despite the changes.

From the lunch menu, we ordered the zucchini and grain salad, menu listed grilled squash, zucchini, brown rice, goats cheese, hazelnuts and mint with a burnt butter vinaigrette (but ours came with quinoa instead of brown rice. We added chicken as they had sold out of salmon fillet.

The food was nice but probably would have been nicer as the original and not changed up dish. We are presuming they had run out of ingredients but we weren’t informed. We also regret not ordering the fish pie as that looked super good. But that’s for next time.

Drink wise, the cafe is licensed so you can get beers, wines and cocktails. Since we were there at brunch, I opted for a Mimosa; passoa, prosecco, passionfruit, topped with oj. We also tried a mocktail – the mango and passionfruit daiquiri. Both were great!

Always a popular cafe in a great atmosphere, food is nice and nourishing.
