New bar, distillery and restaurant called Hickson house is in Sydney’s heritage listed area the Rocks.
As you enter the expansive space, lights are dim, allowing the huge chandeliers to make centre stage. Further to this, you’ll be impressed by the walls of alcohol bottles, in particular the gin.
The bar has the most amazing range of gin and whiskey you’ll ever see, some of it a tad pricy but the varieties available mean you’ll be sure to find your favourite or some new options to try. They focus on Australian and “hard-to-find” varieties.
There’s some impressive curated cocktails and we throughly enjoyed the “Tuck shop punch” – Milo milk-washed Ratu Dark Rum, mandarin oleo, chocolate bitters as well as a “raspberry beret” – Coconut infused Monkey Shoulder Whisky, macadamia, wattle seed, raspberry & hibiscus syrup, coffee. The “Dawes Point Social club” was my favourite – made with Hickson Rd. London Dry Gin, fino sherry, mixed berry tea, fresh lime juice, whites.
Small and large food plates available to eat whilst you’re there such as oysters, squid, salads, burgers, steak, schnitzel and desserts.
