Pelican Rocks Cafe in Greenwell Point is one of favourite places to visit when we’re on a trip down the coast. East of Nowra in the Shoalhaven area of the New South Wales South Coast, it is such a nice location by the water.
The award winning store has been in business over 40 years and we can understand why. The fact that they use fresh caught local produce is a big reason why they have the best fish and chips. Super fresh and you can choose the type of fish, it is lightly battered and inside is the delicious flesh, white flakey and melts in your mouth. The chips are crisp and nicely seasoned. This place is great value, with huge servings and fresh produce.
The mixed seafood basket is a great option to try the favourites, including prawns (fresh and grilled), calamari, oysters, grilled fish and chips. We think this means you get the best of everything and a must order dish.
Another delicious option is the Honey prawns – jumbo prawns battered and covered in honey, served with salad and fries. This is such a generous serving and super delicious.
The prawn salad is a refreshing and healthy option and extremely good value with fresh unshelled prawns sitting atop more peeled prawns throughout. Served with a salad of lettuce, tomato, carrot, onion and cucumber.
Plenty of drinks too, why not have a champers or beer. If you prefer, they also do coffee and tea.
You can book tables and there’s also table service. We find the staff are always super friendly, making the whole experience excellent.
