The Imperial at Clifton

Ever since the Seacliff bridge opened down the coast, we’d drive past the site and always hope they’d open a cool hotel. And that they did with the Imperial at Clifton.

We had been waiting for it’s renovations to finish and keenly watching the Instagram to hear of opening updates. We finally got the opportunity to visit and were very impressed.

The hotel is iconic venue is historic, having been there since the 1900’s, a local watering hole. However it lay dormant for a while, reopening in 2021. It pays tribute to the past with a great reflection through all the restored areas, tiles, wood and historic pictures and artefacts. The restoration is absolutely beautiful and the multi level venue has table seating inside front and back, fireplaces, bathrooms downstairs and it is a bistro, bar and also cafe.

The view out to the Pacific ocean is also stunning!

The food is also excellent and it came so fast despite being very busy. We ordered from the QR reader and the food was brought to our table.

We enjoyed the beef burger, a schnitzel on creamy mash, cauliflower salad, pork riblets and duck fat potatoes.

For drinks, we enjoyed a few wines and cocktails.

We had a wonderful experience and certainly look forward to a revisit.
