The Boathouse Hotel Patonga

The Patonga Hotel is a boutique hotel and pub in the coastal town of Patonga in the Central Coast. Approximately 1 hour and a half from Sydney, and not far from Ettalong and Umina, Patonga is a holiday area right on the water (not the beach, rather than be Hawkesbury River and Broken Bay). You can also get a ferry to and from Palm Beach in Sydney’s Northern beaches.

We were interested to read of its history in the room guide, learning that it was originally an Aboriginal site and then post European settlement, it became a fishing town, known for oyster farming among other things. It still does this today.

Now the site is part of the The Boathouse Group, which has properties around Sydney (Palm Beach, Manly, Rose Bay) and the Patonga location has accomodation, a pub and kiosk.

The accomodation has three apartments above the hotel and also a cottage next door.

We stayed in apartment two, which is a one bedroom property that is a huge size, perfect for our small family of three. The venue even provided and set up a portacot for our baby. The apartment is even complete with a balcony that has an outdoor table and swinging chair. The room is separate to the living space so you can dine and watch tv, and also sleep! The bed is King size with plush bedding and soft comfy pillows and cushions.

The large bathroom has L’occitane bathroom products, a hairdryer and towels for both bathroom and beach use. There’s also an internal laundry if you’re there for a longer stay.

In the whole apartment, the interiors are stunning, featuring crisp white walls, wooden lamps and pendants and natural plush furnishings, as well as beachy artistic pieces.

The dining space has amenities for you to stay in if you so choose; a kitchen table, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. The apartment was complete with a bowl of fruit, milk and San Pellegrini drinks and goods for you to make tea and coffee. The living space has magazines to read, free wi fi and free to air tv and Netflix.

We found the apartment to be perfect for us, to dine in a little, lounge around and feel really in a home away from home.

Despite being above a pub, it was not noisy at all and we loved being able to head downstairs for food and drink.

The menu has great variety; starters, small dishes and larger dishes as well as options to share. We had their cauliflower curry and kids chicken tenders as well as a few great cocktails.

The pub has heaps of outdoor seating, some tables with their own heaters, which is especially needed this winter! Indoor tables, tvs playing sports and a crowd of people socialising for the weekend. It had a really good atmosphere.

Staff member Amie was so helpful, both prior to our stay and during our stay, we really appreciate it.

Really is a lovely place to stay for a little getaway.
