Pa.ra.mi (Onigiri cafe)

Pa.ra.mi is a cute little corner spot in a short little laneway / alley in Alberta Street Surry Hills.

The kitchen is small and there’s only spots to sit outside but that’s all you need for this style of cafe. They primarily focus on Onigiri or Japanese rice balls. Some are on the counter ready to buy and go, or you can order to make, which we recommend as they’re so so good fresh. We try the slow cooked pork belly with chilli sauce and it is outstanding – warm meat and rice and beautifully flavoured. The tuna Mayo is also delicious. Other flavours on the menu include chicken, salmon, roasted cod roe, and salted plum.

Pa.ra.mi also sell bread rolls with various fillings; the prawn cocktail tasted just like a prawn cocktail you’d get in a glass, all sitting inside a soft long roll. The strawberry and cream is a sweet choice, filled with cream and topped with sliced strawberries, we’re sure this will be a customer favourite! We loved that the food was made as we ordered and it was made fast too. Everything was so fresh and we are looking forward to a revisit.

This cafe is also home to mochi, matcha drinks and cookies as well as coffee. You can also buy gifts such as Hojicha tea, matcha powder, cookies and sweets.
