Former Rockpool executive pastry chef Riccardo Falcone and Da Orazio chef Orazio D’Elia, have together opened Mia Dolci Italiani in Alexandria, not far from Sydney Park. Selling coffee by Vittoria and impeccably produced cakes and patisserie goods, it’s a great spot to have a dessert with friends.
Located in a converted warehouse, with a few seats indoors and out, though it’s on a busy road, and if busy, may be good to takeaway like us in a nicely packaged up box.
The display cabinet showcases the desserts on offer; ricotta blueberry cheesecake, Paris Brest, eclairs, chocolate torte or lime tart to name a few. We tried their beautiful Mille Feuille, with a light custard and flaky pastry, as well as their peach and frangipanni tart. Incredibly tasty and works of art to look at.
They even freshly pipe ricotta into the cannoli cases. Hoping they’ll also one day do foccaia and salumi or savoury goodies too!
