I trained with Leonie for years in Sydney, both in classes and for personal training sessions and always found her training to be the best. She was also inspirational as a fighter and instructor. As a Muay Thai fighter Leonie Macks has a solid history of professional fights and titles under her name including 2016 – WMC Australian Muay Thai Champion. She continues to fight in addition with on opening her own Muay Thai gym in Queensland’s Burleigh Heads. I am so pleased for her and was so excited to try it on my holidays in Qld.

Muay Thai is a sport that everyone can do. You start as a kid like the Thai’s do, or even just get into it in your later life. It’s excellent for learning a new craft or skill, for fitness, for routine and discipline and becoming part of a family or community.

Macks Muay Thai is for everyone no matter their experience. You could just be starting, a regular trying to build skills or fighters. There’s Muay Thai basics classes, all levels, sparring or open mats. Whilst on holidays, I visited for two sessions and I felt the classes were well paced for varying skills, friendly and the other class members were welcoming.

It is located just off the M1 at Burleigh Town, behind the pub in an industrial complex. The new facility is huge and perfect for Muay Thai training with plenty of open mats, bags and gym equipment. They have also invested in quality branded equipment in their bags and pads. This goes along way to ensure that attendees can practice their craft comfortably and not have to worry about stuff falling apart!

Don’t be nervous about starting, if this is new to you, for you will easily build your skills and have fun. For the experienced, you will certainly perfect your skill set.
Be sure to check it out.
