We stayed at the Reef View Hotel in Hamilton Island for 2 nights and thought it was amazing place, and extremely family friendly.
Rooms are really spacious – ours was a Coral Sea Ocean view and had two queen beds, couch area and small dining table, but was also big enough to fit the portable cot. They do arrange extra things complimentarily for kids, like a high chair, booster etc.
The water views were great with incredible sights overlooking the crystal clear water of the Coral Sea, watching paddle boards and kayaks, as well as the friendly cockatoos that come up to your balcony.
The room has a large tv, with options to pay for movies. There’s also a small kitchen area with fridge and kettle a mini bar. We also used the in room dining option, easily ordering off the app and food came really fast. Bathrooms were huge with a bath and shower and provided amenities.
The hotel is directly opposite Catseye beach where there’s plenty of water sports to partake in, equipment fee included in your booking.
It is close to many of the island’s services such as the resort centre that has an arcade, restaurant, shops, daily activities, ten pin bowling and two beach side pools. It’s also really close to putt putt and the animal Park.
Next to the hotel is an amazing well equipped Sports club and gym with separate spaces for cycle classes, yoga and strength classes, stretching area and the main area with really modern weights and cardio equipment. It also has a spa and sauna and tennis courts. When staying in Reef View you can use this for free (only paying extra for classes, tennis and golf).
The Reef View has its own pool that is heated and a bunch of deck chairs to relax. You can also order food from the hotel restaurant. This Pool Terrace restaurant also has a breakfast buffet daily that does include international food choices too. Tip if you’re there before 8, proper barista coffee is included for free.
There is also a lobby bar where you can get alcoholic drinks, coffee and bar food and watch sports or the live music they have at night time.
When staying here you can receive the following:

• Use of catamarans, windsurfers, kayaks, stand up paddleboards and snorkelling equipment
• Use of Island Shuttle which operates every ten mins (the blue one around the island, and the green one to the shops/restaurants and black)

• Kids also eat free with a paying adult at a number of the island restaurants
• FREE wireless internet
Note check out is 10am. If you ask for late check out, it is $50 pr hour subject to availability. Don’t waste your money though, because there’s a good waiting area with showers and lockers that you can use after check out.
A great hotel that we thought was the perfect place to stay. It is quite expensive so keep in mind it might need to be for a special occasion.
