Laphroaig Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located on the island of Islay in Scotland 🏴 It was established in 1815 and still operates there today.
You can drop in for a dram or do a whole experience, but be sure to book. I explored the process of Laphroaig from Barley to Bottle listening to their traditional methods to malt and smoke barley as well as well as an exclusive tasting of three peated whiskies, their own smokeyflavour straight from the cask. We tried the fino cask, virgin French oak and Bourbon cask.
At the end, I was given a 350ml single cask bottle, hand filled at the Distillery.
At the bar, we purchased a tasting flight of their cask strength whiskeys, which was phenomenal, and also had a tasting flight of their old and rare bottling, including a 25 year old whisky 🥃
The whole visit was excellent, the tour was fun and the cask strength tasting at the bar was a highlight.
