Johnny Gio’s has popped up with quickly developed popularity that we hear it talked about a lot and also visibly see multiple locations! We ventured to Turramurra to try it out and it was honestly so good, even better than we expected.

It’s a causal spot, easy for the whole family. They predominately focus on takeaway, though there are a few tables if you’re wanting to eat as soon as you pick it up. The open window allows you to watch them in action, rolling the dough, topping it and placing under the woodfire. Low waiting time and friendly staff, the place has a good vibe.

Their range is massive, and so many delicious toppings. Meatballs, Pepperoni, Veggie, and many specialty options featuring quality artisan products like speck, pomodoro, truffle or Gorgonzola. We had a few different pizzas including the Zaza $25 featuring porcini mushroom, smoked scarmoza, garlic, Parmesan and truffle. This pizza was so good, nice and cheesy and flavours reigning through.

We also liked the burrata Queen. This was like a Margherita, pomodoro tomato base, where you topped it with a full burrata ball, that you cut into and it sprawls over your pizza.

We also tried their meatballs with ricotta and garlic bread! So good! And also a side of rocket salad. We loved it all!

If you’re also keen for dessert, why not try tiramisu, a Nutella pizza or even some mars bar cheesecake. For us, the chocolate cake was our choice and also a crowd favourite; it is so moist and super decadent, definately a must try.
