Bespoke cocktails @The long goodbye

The Long Goodbye, drawing its name from the Raymond Chandler novel and film of the noir genre is a new bar in the hub of the darlinghurst dining precinct. Themed to fit perfectly in the film noir 40’s-50’s decades. The Long Goodbye is an exciting bar to visit due to an outrageous amount of housemade liquors produced by their ultrasonicator. The crew producing new flavours almost weekly, using seasonal produce. These liquors are mixed into inventive cocktails, based on your particular taste preferences.

Make your way upstairs and find yourself in a dimly lit room, vintage interiors, wallpaper, couches and lounges and candles to give the space an intimate feel. There’s also live jazz music on Thursday nights.

Owners Flynn and Dennis have a passion for cocktail making and are extremely knowledgeable in all things drink related. Let the bar staff know of your flavour preferences and they’ll mix up a concoction for you.

I mentioned that I liked ‘fruity flavours’ and I got a drink that used passion fruit liquor and cardamon, amazingly refreshing.

Finn also conjured up a unique chestnut rye old fashioned. One our favourite to date. Bar staffer Kirsten also made us a great cocktail using prickly pear, capsicum, chilli and lime, such interesting flavours that worked really well together.

There’s no menu, no set price but around $18 based on the alcohol in the drink. Pop on in for a cool vibe and not to be missed in the darlinghurst bar scene. Thanks to Wasamedia for introducing us to this bar.
