We always like to try somewhere new and we like a good coffee roaster. We had a quick browse online and decided to head to Aslan Coffee Roasters. Aslan have been roasting in St Peters since 2011. We visited their store in the Rocks, found down a small lane way; Nurses walk.
Aslan’s aim is to produce a diverse range of coffee that shows off the bold flavours from Indonesia. They roast weekly and use these beans in milk based, filter, nitro, V60 and cold brew coffee. They also do a good chai, teas and shakes.
Turkish for lion, Aslan also feature this is their cool wall art, a little ‘graffiti-esque’ in style.
The menu here has an Asian influence, predominately Indonesian. Menu items are interesting and on our visits we tried the following foods:
Herbed roasted Mushrooms with smashed avo on a soft Hokkaido bun with Danish feta and dukkah. You can add eggs, we chose poached, as well as a bit of bacon. A fresh and tasty dish, reasonably priced at $15.
We also enjoyed a Kimchi and Quinoa Breakfast bowl, which was nice and healthy with kale, roasted mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, roasted sesame dressing and topped with a fried egg and house made kimchi.
Another tasty dish was their Indonesian Turmeric rice, topped with hot smoked salmon kedgeree (a Tasmanian smoked salmon), with parsley, a fried egg, tougarashi and some curry sauce on the side.
The food here was really tasty and reasonably priced.
