Brooklyn Boy “Drive-up”

I am a huge fan of bagels and ate them aplenty in New York and on a recent trip to Israel. So when I hear somewhere selling bagels, I’ll be there.

I’ve had Brooklyn Boy often, previously at markets, in their recently closed Circular Quay store and also at other cafes that stock the product.

Brooklyn Boy have made a business pivot and reopened their wholesale bakery to a front of store retail in Marrickville in a factory space. Whilst it’s described as “drive-through”, technically it isn’t since it’s not like McDonalds where you place your order and drive right through and grab your order. It’s more of a car park where you can stop out front and grab your order and hop back in the car. If they do a drive through option, it wasn’t obvious to me.

Selling a good range of flavours and runs of cream cheese to go and make at home or have one made up for your brekkie. The bagels are authentic, boiled and baked the traditional way. Whether it be plain, blueberry (one of my favourites), mixed seed (or their “everything”), onion, pumpkin, sesame, poppy seed or another of my personal favourites – pumpernickel. They also sell challah (Jewish brioche) and pretzels.

There are also 285-mil tubs of different varieties of cream cheese such as plain, jalapeno, lox with capers, or garlic and chive.

See the website where you can order online (with a minimum spend) and even some big packs to make at home are also available.

They also do takeaway coffees, using beans by Little Marionette.

Be sure to get there early as they do sell out.
