Cafe Mackenzie @ Randwick

This cafe can be found in the Newmarket complex in Randwick, on Barker Street convenient to University of New South Wales, and Prince of Wales Hospital. There’s also a great park next to it where you can amuse your children.

The cafe is bright and spacious with plenty of space to sit inside or you can dine alfresco. As you enter, we love the expansive coffee counter where you can see all their pastry offerings for the day with cookies, bagels and treats.

For their more substantial menu, they’ve got everyone’s favourites from Bacon and egg rolls, avo on toast to granola or some more unique offerings like a beef brisket hash or halloumi stack. We dined in for breakfast and really enjoyed their Chorizo Breakfast. This nicely presented plate was so colourful, and in addition to the chorizo was scrambled eggs, pickled vegetables, a delicious Smokey salsa, smoked cheddar and my favourite Nonies activated charcoal & quinoa bread. Such a vibrant dish that we’d most certainly order again.

We also ordered their “Eggs your way”, opting for scrambled eggs and spinach as an add on. There’s multiple things you can select to accompany your eggs and they’re at reasonable prices.

Coffee here is great, but if you’re not into coffee, there’s plenty of options: Tea by MAYDE, Strange Love Sodas, Kombucha by Mailer Mcguire, Milkshakes, Frappes, Fresh Cold Pressed Juice and more.

If you’re there for lunch, the cafe has a range of substantial meals from burgers to baguettes, sandwiches or even a fattoush or broccoli salad. You can grab a beer, white or red by the glass or bottle.
