Driving around Milton, I spotted the sign to Altar Wine Bar and decided to pop in and see if we could get a table. Luckily there was space and we are grateful there was, for it is the most beautiful location.
Tables are situated in the gardens of the property and there’s also a Marquee if you prefer cover. We were dining as a couple with our baby, but there were also families, groups and even a hens afternoon. The gardens are picturesque and there’s a lovely property and dam it looks out onto. It would also be the perfect spot for a party or wedding.
Staff provide us with complimentary buttered popcorn as we decide what to order. A wine and cocktail is on the cards, and we go for a Pinot Grigio and also the apple pie martini. They’ve got a great wine list and interesting cocktails like a chai espresso martini.
The food is brilliant. So much of the menu is appealing to us, but as it’s lunch, we opt for something small.
We have a charcuterie plate with pickles as well as the most amazing Moreton bay bug served with betel leaves to wrap as a small bite. We also love their crispy sweet potato fries!
We loved everything about our visit; the drinks, food, grounds and hospitality and look forward to returning.
