Whilst on a trip to South Australia, we travelled through the McLaren Vale wine region to visit some wineries and restaurants. We booked into the Salopian Inn, as recommended by multiple people, located in a picturesque area surrounded by beautiful vineyards.

Set in a quaint house, with climbing greenery on the exterior and it’s unique eclectic styling inside, it’s a lovely spot for dinner. With its creative menu, friendly and helpful staff, it was overall a great ambience. They were so accomodating, especially with us having a toddler.

We couldn’t stay for dinner due to said certain nearly two year old, but we really enjoyed our food whilst there. They have a seasonal menu and use local seasonal produce in their dishes offering small, substantial and side dishes.

We had the Coorong Mullet + Vichy Carrots + Pickled Beetroot + Beurre Blanc Sauce + Garden Herbs. The fish was nice and light but sauces needed a bit more of a kick.

We also ordered the 4 Week Dry Aged 100% Grass Fed Steak + Mushroom Duxelles + Pomme Pailles + Pepper & Brandy Jus. The steak is of high quality and perfectly cooked. Also with a side of Crispy Kipfler Potatoes + Salsa Verde + Parmesan. Super crunchy and very Morrish, we kept going back for more.

They do have decent kids meals, even their steak was wagyu!

A wine cellar means there’s an extensive wine list and the staff can help you with your ordering.

Overall, this is a lovely spot for a delicious dinner.
