We were recommended by our Maxi taxi driver when arriving in Airlie that we should visit Fishii for fresh seafood and we are so glad we followed the tip, for it was outstanding.
Fishii (fresh island seafood) is located in Cannonvale in an industrial area (5-10 mins from the main strip in Airlie). It’s a family business and they supply shoppers the finest and freshest seafood including fish, whole fish, fresh prawns and also sashimi, and sushi to go, pre made curries to finish off in the fry pan and a range of artisanal products like salts and crackers.
From the cold section in the store, we tried both the prawn and salmon sashimi poke bowls, complete with soba noodles, rice, greens, and the protein and a nice dose of dressing. We also had a handful of delicious fresh prawns, and the staff brought us our napkins and a water bowl for the shelling process.
They also sell food to eat there and then such as Fish and Chips cooked fresh; grilled, crumbed or battered, as well as squid, scallops and potato. This place was hands down unbeatable! We had the CRAZY good coral trout, trevally and what Kurt describes as the best potato scallops ever.
Service was excellent and so hospitable and all staff made you feel welcome.
The food is so good and we’d be there daily if we lived in the area.
