Whilst in Surry Hills, we take a chance and see if @khanaa.restaurant has a spare table on a Saturday night. We were in luck! 🍀 We head on into this Bengali restaurant from Chef Opel Khan.

The menu draws inspiration from Khan’s childhood and he’s elevated it into a highly sophisticated menu featuring both ala carte and banquet. The dining space is very dark, only dimly lit and features a fish/mermaid style art installation, needs more of a vibe.

Wait staff are hovering, unobtrusive but feels helicopterish and a bit formal. The food is expensive, and probably quite small for the price, but it was certainly tasty.

We had a few lovely entrees; the Duck Leg Confit Samosa, with a flowering daikon, the lobster crepe, and we also enjoyed their delicate sashimi mosaic of tuna, kingfish and salmon. For the mains, our group shared the buttery Snapper fillet and MB Score 5+ Lamb with a smoked Eggplant Mousse and parsnip. A short cocktail wine list (although drinks are pricy).
