Morley Eats is a large café on the corner of Botany Road and Morley Ave, Rosebery. Rosebery is currently a thriving little hub of cafes, bars and dessert stores and this place absolutely fits in the area. Previously Du Liban, it has undergone rebranding and a new menu to suit the clientele in the area.
A huge space that can accommodate plenty of diners. There are a range of papers and magazines atop the tables for you to browse whilst waiting. Cakes and baklava visible in the front counter and a huge woodfired oven for the marvelous pizzas on the menu.
The menu has a middle-eastern influence with some great flavours to their dishes as well as heatlhy options and certainly lots of colour. They also sell takeaway meat and vegetable dishes for those needing to get back to work or having lunch on the go.
Morley Eats make Breakfast manoosh(Pizzas) which is something rare on the café scene at the moment. We went for the Zaatar, cheese, tomato and olive pizza which was cooked in the pizza oven. Nice and crispy with flavoursome herbs, it is certainly an excellent choice. There are plenty of toppings, including a sweet Nutella and strawberry one. Zaatar wraps also sounded good, in particularly the egg and mince wrap, though we had too many dishes we wanted to try.
There were some amazing waffles on the menu, and these are gluten free too! We tried the hash brown waffle, topped with an avocado smash, chilli jam and a fried egg. The potato was inside the waffle mix, soft inside, crunchy on the outer – this dish is one you must order! They also sell Matcha and Red Velvet waffles which are all the craze at the moment.
The breakfast menu boasts a good range of interesting dishes like French toast, quinoa bowls, shakshuka, grilled haloumi and more. We also tried the “Morley’s Muesli” a bowl of oats, seeds, granola and topped with a delicious strawberry labneh (made in store) with poached fruit including papaya, blueberries, strawberries and rhubard with a side of milk. This was extremely tasty and healthy and I would definitely order this again.
We were lucky enough to be offered another dish to try, a spinach and quinoa salad, with poached eggs, avocado, hummus, labneh, pumpkin and flavoured with lemon and a strong sesame flavor. I’m sure this will be a popular menu choice, and an extremely healthy one.
