DZO ”cheers” to some tasty comfort food

DZO grill and bar in Darlinghurst has been around for a number of years, formerly as upmarket Vietnamese restaurant La Mint. DZO now focuses on providing hungry diners with a place where they can score some Vietnamese comfort food in a more casual setting. Their new look and new menu is focused on tasty street vendor inspired food which Vietnam is famous for.

DZO is also a bar, meaning “cheers” in Vietnamese. They have an extensive drinks menu including, beer, wine and a number of mocktails and refreshing cocktails to be enjoyed with a bite to eat. We enjoyed the refreshing lychee cocktail.

There are a number of tasty snacks to share over a beverage or two with friends and family. With a range of tasty flame grilled skewers that will have you coming back for more, chicken sate, homemade pork sausage as well as a number of vegetable skewers including mushroom and taro.

In fact there are plenty of tasty vegetarian options the fried eggplant and okra both incredibly more-ish.

DZO also do some great mains including the campfire beef, this dish was one of the highlights so very flavoursome, roll your own ricepaper rolls, we couldn’t get enough of this. The coconut curry was also a good dish to share.

The twice cooked pork belly is another highlight, so tender it fell apart as soon as you prodded it with the fork, cooked for four hours, this imparting the pork with some beautiful caramelised flavours.

If you are looking for some great Vietnamese cuisine in Darlinghurst, check out DZO. They are utilising their culinary skills to put out some quality Vietnamese comfort food to be enjoyed.
