The Paper Mill Food @ Liverpool

My family and I often meet in Liverpool for a catch up, since it’s a half way point for both of us. We love that there’s a new venue for us to go to, and one that’s got a variety of options for us. This means we can order something to our own preference but also continue to return and try new things.

The Paper Mill in Casula is a new place we’ve found to do just that. It is about a 30 minute drive from the CBD and is set in a converted 19th century paper mill, hence its name. It is a huge space which fits 570 people at its fullest.

It is essentially a dining precinct, since there’s a few eateries here; a cafe, Mediterranean chicken shop, as well as bar food and even an upmarket meat based restaurant. This reflects a variety of wants and needs and also the multicultural nature of the demographic.

Restaurants in the precinct include:

• Shepherd’s Lane Cafe and Dessert Bar – breakfast and brunch options like French toast and brekkie pizzas as well as lunch meals like burgers. They do coffees and sweet cakes. We had a burger and a few coffees here.

• Georgie’s Pizza and Bar – a casual space for pizzas and burgers as well as a wine, beer or cocktail.

• Charcoal Joe’s Lebanese Chicken – middle eastern restaurant serving Lebanese charcoal chicken, skewers, chips, hummus, fried cauliflower, falafel, tabouli and Lebanese bread. You can even get this takeaway. I found this a bit expensive, but the platter was tasty.

• The Firepit Meat and Seafood – here the food is cooked over coals and ironbark. A fancier part of the precinct and this part is bookable

The interior design has maintained heritage features through exposed Original brickwork. They have gentrified this with timber, steel poles, huge windows, sculptures, a huge fountain at the entrance and even handmade mosaic floor. Despite the four separate precincts, the interior design combines the venue together well as the features flow from space to space.

We love that you can even get free valet parking. Head below the venue, they park your car and you send them a text when ready to leave and your car is ready for you.

Try this out if you’re in the area, it’s a good meet up spot and family friendly.
