Café Y is a branch of the charity @Project_Youth_inc and it is a wonderful social enterprise café based in Menai, South Sydney. This cafe operates to serve you quality cafe food and profits are used to support people in need. By choosing Cafe Y, you’re choosing to help people in need.
We love to support any businesses that provides a service to the community and helps those in need. What is great about this business is that all the profits made go back into supporting local young people facing disadvantage such as homelessness, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency and family dysfunction.
Café Y also runs a hospitality course for young people to learn new skills of being a chef and in waitressing, which sets them up for full time employment in the workplace.
Today there’s so many people facing disadvantage and we all deserve the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the obstacles that may be faced.
Last year, Project Youth worked with over 7,267 local young people aged 12-25 facing disadvantage, and they created opportunities for them to determine their own future.
To keep the café open, and in turn, to keep supporting local young people, Café Y and Project Youth need the help and support of the entire community.
Why not do yourself a selfless good deed and make Café Y your regular coffee stop, and swing by to try their tasty new menu – we think the food is amazing! You know you’re helping a very worthy cause at the same time as getting your daily brekkie!
Try a roasted butternut pumpkin salad with halloumi or smashed avo on soy and linseed sourdough with danish fetta, tomato and basil pesto.
A crowd pleaser and our pick would be the bacon, tomato, eggs on sourdough or the free range egg omelette.
You’ll find buttermilk pancakes, as well as summer breakfast bowls, wraps and burgers too.
