Not just ‘Some Cafe’ @ Collector

Some Cafe in Collector is a little old heritage cottage inn turned cafe in what might be in an unexpected location, off the main highway to Canberra in a little country street, but a good stop on your way in or out of Canberra.

They serve breakfast, lunch, coffee and homemade cakes, 5 days a week. A cute and cosy little house with a fireplace, so it is warm and comfortable to enjoy your meal.

It is essentially a paddock to plate philosophy, selling tasty food using local free-range eggs, Three Mills Bread, Pialligo meat and locally grown fruit and veg. We tried the Dingo burger; a hash brown and egg roll w house ketchup & mayo for only $10.

Our mate @where_do_i_eat_pete enjoyed their version of the Shakshuka – soft eggs in a spicy tomato & capsicum sauce topped w feta & served w rye.

I loved the “Greeny” – Green tahini, fresh tomato, poached egg & house dukkah on rye sourdough w lemon & herb salad. A healthy and refreshing dish that was great with a squirt of lemon.

They also have a range of cakes in the front window, Anzac slice, brownies and friands.

A good cup of coffee here using beans from Single O and the barista can pour a good cup of latte art too.

Whilst there we also did a wine tasting at the attached door open for tastings and the purchasing of wine at Collector Wines. Their cool climate wines are produced by winemaker Alex McKay.
