Visit Silo Bakery and Cafe for some of the best breads and pastries around. Located about ten mins drive from Canberra CBD in the trendy little area of Kingston, it’s worth the trip.
Their Artisan bread and pastries are made in store and are pretty popular, so be sure to get there early. It’s a small spot with minimal decor and only a few tables to eat at, so it’s best to grab what you want as takeaway.
Do you prefer their silo sourdough, rye sourdough volkornbrot, kingston, white sourdough, stirato crusty italian bread, french style white baguette, ciabattini small italian style square rolls or french style roll? So many to pick from. I buy a loaf of the walnut and cranberry for later, can’t wait to eat it!
Maybe you’re a croissant fan – plain croissants, almond croissants, butter brioche, pain au chocolate, Orange & Pistachio Snail, Custard & Raisin or our pick of the day, the “Evie” – apple, almond & raisin in croissant pastry. Crispy and super tasty.
They also have a rhubarb galettes and pear galettes if you’ve got a sweet tooth.
From the savoury options there’s quiche, pies and sausage rolls and boreks as well as sandwiches. You can even eat in at their cafe with omelettes, eggs, French toast or muesli and a coffee. Be sure to pay it a visit if you’re in the nation’s capital.
