We like to go for a drive on a weekend and find some new spots to explore, and if it’s near the beach, even better. We headed to the Northern Beaches on the weekend and stopped off in Narrabeen where we enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Cabana beach Kiosk.
It is located on the upper floor of the South Narrabeen Surf Lifesaving club. Make your way into the club and the kiosk occupies the east end next to a function space.
The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and if you get there early enough or make a booking you can get an amazing spot overlooking the beach. But wherever you sit in the cafe is perfect to take in the view. It’s great for a bit of dolphin and whale watching so you can catch some dolphins playing out front or the whales a little further off shore!
The cafe itself is casual with beachside decor in white and blue hues. The space is so relaxing, you could stay all day with a bottle of wine and good conversation.
They do breakfast and coffees, as well as lunch with beers, wines and cocktails (and dinner some days). If you’re ordering from the lunch/dinner menu, there’s some food appropriate for sharing like arancini, bruschetta and chicken wings or if you prefer your own meal, perhaps a schnitzel, burger or the much loved fish and chips.
We were there for lunch and opted for mostly seafood since it felt fitting being near the beach. The fish tacos were a generous size and certainly very tasty, with red cabbage, diced tomato, chipotle mayo and lime.
We also ordered the 300 gr Grilled Barramundi. It was cooked nicely and served with a green mojo sauce (a Spanish recipe) and some salad and roast potatoes. A light dish and perfect for lunch with a glass of wine.
We also shared the Green Goodness salad and got our fix of greens here with kale, raw spinach, avocado and mixed with some Quinoa, chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin seeds. It was drizzled with their green goodness sauce, so good they should bottle that stuff. You can opt to add haloumi, chicken or smoked salmon.
Overall the cafe is friendly, welcoming and comfortable. We recommend it for taking the family, a catch with friends or even a solo meal just to chill by the beach. It also won’t break the budget, for the meals are reasonable priced! Thanks for a great experience.
