Three Blue Ducks Rosebery 2021

The Three Blue Ducks concept began in Bronte and they’ve since expanded with stores now in Byron Bay, Rosebery and Brisbane. Although the Bronte store is set to close their doors, the others are continuing. They also host weddings and functions and you often see them at other events off site. With a big team of staff, you will note one of them is Masterchef host.

Stores vary in look and menu, however their approach is the same. We went to the Rosebery store which could be described as an open kitchen, large dining space and rustic decor. The store also sells some homely products like aprons, and cookbooks.

The restaurant group likes to use ethically sourced and organic produce and generally from local suppliers, ensuring the menu has fresh food, and as such the menu continues to evolve.

We were pleasantly greeted, taken to our table and perused the menu. There’s entrees, larger plates as well as the weekly burger special. The menu is on the higher end for prices and seems best for group dining so our group orders a few dishes to share;

Roasted red capsicum & cashew hummus, dukkah, flatbread (df, vg, n)

Curry spiced raw kingfish, ruby grapefruit, fried curry leaves, toasted peanuts (gf, df, n)

Fermented capsicum & chilli glazed half chicken, roast zucchini & squash, chicken jus (gf, df)

The food is lovely, very fresh, certainly well seasoned and each dish sees a great combination of flavours that are beautifully prepared. I’d recommend some bread on the side as the food is quite light.

There’s plenty of seafood options on the menu too, and a lovely range of desserts.

Drink wise, there’s a bar with wine, beers, cocktails and also coffee for the non-drinkers. Perfect for the bottom less brunch on weekends too. I loved their lemon Myrtle martini – a solid drink with a lovely hint of my favourite lemon Myrtle.

I have visited before, but this time here with my mothers group. The venue were kind accomodate us in a nice quiet spot and hopefully we didn’t disturb our fellow guests, but the high roofs and ambient music drown out the cries!

A great spot for any kind of catch up.
