Baker Bleu @ Double Bay

Baker Bleu, located on Guilfoyle Avenue in Sydney’s pricy Double Bay is a fancy bakery/artisan grocer selling a range of sourdough bread, pastries and gourmet products.

Owners Mike and Mia Russell have paired up with Neil Perry in opening this store, and it’s located just next door to Perry’s restaurant Margaret.

We’re at Baker Bleu when it opens and they’re still getting their sandwiches and baguettes ready, so we opt for an almond and plain croissant as well as some plain bagels to take home. Croissants are brilliant and the bagels are not too dense like some are these days.

There’s a few tables outside to dine casually, but buy at the counter and take home seem to be the typical method of consumers.

The shop sells cook books and pantry items like spreads, honey, pickles, olive oil, peanut butter, jams, granola and more.

We’re keen to try sandwiches next time we’re in the area.
