I booked Giuls Surry Hills to celebrate my birthday as I wanted something nice and casual but with great food. A few people mentioned that Giuls was good.

The venue is lovely, with outdoor seating too and vibrant painting of the store name inside.

The food is Italian with modern take on it and some other foreign influences too. With a group of 7 thought the set menu was suitable to share. It was so perfect, because for $79 you got such a generous serve of food and the type that had something for everyone.

Featuring thickly sliced foccacia, warm olives, burrata and Proscuitto to start, it really was a delicious start. Hands down the kingfish crudo was my favourite – nicely flavoured with oil and tiny grapefruit slices.

This was followed by a truffle cheese spiral pasta, vodka shell pasta, perfect cooked and sliced wagyu rump and sides of fries and rocket salad.

Honestly this place cannot be faulted – the food was excellent. We had were so so full and even took a bit home for later!

Our waitress Katerina was also of a high standard and provided excellent service. We even appreciated that they let us split the bill.
This restaurant is thoroughly recommended!
