Meals
We tried a variety of options including the Rosemary and Thyme seasoned chicken with crunchy veg (cabbage and carrot), the almond crusted chicken with sweet potato and seasonal greens (peas, zucchini and broccoli) as well as some curries. We loved the macadamia chicken curry with cauliflower and kale rice, as well as the plant based rendang curry with zucchini brown rice and quinoa. We found the meals to be generous protein serves, with excellent sides and lovely flavours. They only took about 3-5 minutes to cook in the microwave. They are also reasonably priced at $12.95 a meal.
We also opted for a pizza which we baked in the oven, it was a spicy meat lovers pizza with roasted peppers and cheese on a healthy cauliflower base, for only $9.95. It was great to have a healthy comfort food.
There’s a wide menu which you can check out online.
Thr1ve also do breakfast options and I quite enjoyed the vanilla protein serve, which I popped into the blender with some water, milk and banana. This made for an easy and filling breakfast.
Collab-A-Plate
Thr1ve have also launched Collab-A-Plate, where they’ve teamed up with top restaurants and chefs. This has been great for restaurants to adapt during the Covid19 crisis. They are currently offering a meal designed by chef Mike McEnearney from acclaimed restaurant Kitchen by Mike. We’ve been to the restaurant before, so we know the quality food he prepares and were excited to hear we could have his food at home. We tried the tasty Moroccan chicken Tagine, a fragrant spiced chicken dish with a generous serving of chicken, cooked with chickpeas and rhubarb, served with a lemon and mint cauliflower rice.
Delivery
We ordered on a Thursday and it was delivered spot on time to our location of Botany on the following Monday as requested. It comes well packaged with ice bars to keep it cool, and then pop it all straight in the fridge.
